You know how the Wicked Witch of the West melts in the Wizard of Oz, “I’m melting….melting…ah!” This past Sunday, that was me in the Hearth&Hand aisle of Target—or maybe that was my wallet.
Whether you know who Joanna Gaines is or not, I’m sure you’ve seen all the hoopla surrounding the arrival of Hearth&Hand. If you’re one of those that opted for “not,” it’s time to hop on the bandwagon folks!
I’ve been hanging with Chip & Joanna since season 1. I purchased my favorite vase as soon as Magnolia Market was live online. I’ve been planning a trip to the Silo’s since the grand opening. And I’m a faithful subscriber to the Magnolia Journal. The only thing that I haven’t done is read the books, says the “buy all the books” lady. Shocking, I know. I guess I’ve been too busy decorating. Needless to say, the launch of Hearth&Hand brought on a case of mind-numbing excitement & attempted moon walking. Now I can actually afford Joanna’s décor to spruce up my little home!
I’ve had an online list going since the sneak peek was revealed and picked up a few of those items on Sunday.
Wanna know what I got?
I actually pulled myself together and refrained to purchasing only smaller items. We’ve been in saving mode so I didn’t buy ALL THE THINGS like I wanted to. Here’s to self-control for once!
But the things that I did get, I love! I can’t stop looking at them. They’re just so PRETTY. (Psst! I already have my next cart ready to go—don’t tell Andrew).
Alright, so first thing I picked up was a pair of stylin’ tea towels. Not so much for everyday use but for sitting pretty. I didn’t say useless! The blogger/photographer in me will be putting these two to good use for backdrops & photo styling. I’m always on the lookout for affordable ways to add “oompf” to my photos.
Second, measuring spoons. Now I already have two sets of measuring spoons. I suppose I’m an addict. My first set was the stainless steel set that I’ve always wanted. My second set was included with my recent Pampered Chef purchase—not as pretty to look at, but they have this flat bottom thing going on (to prevent spillage) that has me mind blown. Now this is my third set. And I admit that I also got these to use primarily for photography purposes. I mean, you kind of just want to look at them all day.
Kitchen wise, I also picked up the cutest cookie cutters. I love to bake and I can’t get enough cookie cutters for my collection. I’m envisioning the cutest, little, iced cookie houses that you ever did see. Also—scented, salt dough ornaments. Definitely. My only complaint is that the hammer and goat forms were a little on the small side in parts, so I’m thinking that will make for a tiny, tiny brittle cookie once baked. Because of that, I put the goat back and took a chance on the hammer. We’ll see!
I grabbed a box of the vase filler because I thought it could work perfectly with a galvanized, laser cut sign that I found at Hobby Lobby. When I’m tired of that, I can use them to fill up a centerpiece or glass vase (like they were actually intended for).
Last but not least, I grabbed two of the ceramic bud vases (small & medium). I was actually going for the nesting houses but my Target did not supply them, so I made a rash decision and purchased these two instead. It’s been my intent to pair these with my bottle brush trees for a cutesy, winter scene. I actually found 3 packs of bottle brush trees (in many varieties) in the Dollar Section. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever left the Dollar Section without something in tow. Thank you, Target!
I mentioned that I want all the things but there are a few standout items that I want to use in our house right away for the Christmas season. So here’s what I’m going for next:
Also, how cute is the kid’s stuff? I want the dollhouse just for myself.
Soooo, did you check anything off of your wish list yet? I want to hear your ideas for using this cute stuff in your house—send me all the photos!
Happy Weekend to you! xx
