Happy friday, ladies.
It’s time to talk about the menfolk.
And how stinkin’ hard it is to find something that they’ll like & use at Christmas! I mean, I could locate one of Andrew’s wish lists–but they all start at $5,000 & involve machinery or ropes or guns. All things that I know nothing about.
I’m left to my own devices.
Now, a lot of the things we’ve made so far this week (candles, salt scrub, steamers) can be transformed into more manly items just by using…manly musky scents.
PINE + ORANGE + BLACK SPRUCE + CEDARWOOD + TEATREE + SPEARMINT + VETIVER
And hey–guys like lavender & eucalyptus, too.
But I’d like to throw out another fun idea for our bearded (or want to be bearded) men!
Psst…this post may contain affiliate links so that I can earn a little commission.
But don’t worry, I only recommend products that I actually use & love.
WHAT YOU NEED
My oils of choice vary between: coconut, avocado, & grapeseed which are all perfect bases for beard blends. I chose Avocado this time around but here’s a quick run-down of these three oils:
high in Vitamins A, B, D & E + Omega 3, 6, & 9
works wonders on skin conditions like: scarring, eczema, & rashes
nourishing for skin & promotes healthy hair
works to deeply condition & moisturize
penetrates skin more easily without clogging pores
high in Vitamin E + Omega 6 & 9
practically no scent
especially useful for acne prone or oily skin
extremely moisturizing + hydrating
MANLY ESSENTIAL OILS
For this batch I mixed Tea Tree + Frankincense + Bergamot.
TEA TREE is soothing for dry & itchy skin, antibacterial & anti-acne
FRANKINCENSE promotes healthy looking skin, improves scarring & blemishes, an astringent
BERGAMOT is a natural skin cleanser, improving wounds, reduces itching, promotes healthy hair
Other delicious blends include:
VETIVER + CEDARWOOD + BALSAM FIR (IDAHO)
TEA TREE + CEDARWOOD + LAVENDER
FRANKINCENSE + LAVENDER+ CEDARWOOD + ORANGE
CEDARWOOD + BERGAMOT + GINGER + NUTMEG + CISTUS
Young Living is my jam-–you can read about the benefits of EO & why I chose Young Living here.
GLASS EYE DROPPER BOTTLES
I think these amber bottles are so nice to look at–and it’s really all about that anyway, right. 😉
Seriously though–it’s a nice, heavy bottle & it’s the perfect size. There are several options on Amazon.
WHAT TO DO
Remember that massage oil from yesterday…and how easy it was to make?
Well we’re going to take that same principle and apply it to our beard oil.
Fill up your glass dropper bottle with your selected carrier oil.
Add in about 10-12 drops of oil.
If you’re blending multiple oils, just mix equal parts of each to total 10-12 drops.
Put the lid back on & shake shake shake…shake shake shake…shake your booty, shake your booty.
There really is a song for everything.
And of course you have to open it back up and smmmmmeeeeelllll it.
Then dress it up all cute…I mean….masculine.
And gift it to all the men in your life.
Other than the fact that they make your man smell amazing, the oils really help to improve the thickness & softness of his scruff.
I’ll have to update you in a few months on the status of Andrew’s, super manly, lumberjack beard.
Five minutes later and we’re done! You’ll have to let me know if you come up with another man scent to try out–I’m all ears.
Talk at ‘cha tomorrow with another sweet smelling DIY. xx
