where to start

Life is a mixed bag. Sometimes we're getting raises + having babies, while other times we're getting laid off + holding negative pregnancy tests. Naturally, we tend to skim over our failures + imperfections. We want only our successes + highlights to see the light of day.

But as I've gotten older, I've come to realize that all of life is beautiful + purposeful whether it's a "high," "low," or somewhere in between. The sleepless nights, tight budgets + seasons of change result in lessons learned, personal growth + unforgettable memories. When we embrace the icky parts along with the really good parts, life becomes even more meaningful. So here's to rocking our third day hair, laundry piles + less than perfect photos.

And in the end, I think I’ve learned the final lesson from my travels in time; and I’ve even gone one step further than my father did. The truth is I now don’t travel back at all, not even for the day. I just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one day, to enjoy it, as if it was the full final day of

my extraordinary, ordinary life.

Our Birth Story

I'm telling all. Yup! All the details.
Like how it really felt + if Andrew stayed conscious + if I got the drugs.

hey friend!

I’m Cheryl. Come on in! Pull up a chair + I'll pour you some fresh coffee. It's so good to have friends to share a cuppa with, don't you agree? Here's some Peppermint Mocha Creamer, it's my favorite.

A little about me? Well, my thirties are quickly approaching, by far my favorite titles are wife + mama, I live in the Mid-West, I'm proud to say that I can quote about 98% of Friends, I'm always thinking of how I can get creative or, of course, my neverending to-do list, and...well, I have the hardest time saying no to a new coffee mug. Which explains the collection on the shelf over there. But hey, I'm an open book on all things life, wife + mama...

The One on Mom-Bod

Here’s the thing. I usually steer clear of posts involving topics like physical appearance because it can be such a fine line to tow between “loving yourself” and “bettering yourself.” It can seem like they are two distinct options, that one cannot possibly co-exist with the other. And often, at least for myself, this idea has taken deep root in my mind + heart so that it is an “Everest sized” task to change our perspective on these options. But I gotta say, this “Mom bod” has revolutionized ... READ the POST

Eight Things Before Thirty

Birthdays become an entirely different event as you age. Or perhaps not even an event at all. I remember the days when I would plan, blueprint style, for my birthday party. I specifically remember planning a Lord of the Rings themed party and designing Legolas boots out of gumdrops…what can I say, once a nerd always a nerd. And no, I wasn’t planning it because my parents didn’t care. It was mostly because I was a slightly psychotic, planning, control freak with 13-year-old hormones. Moving on ... READ the POST

BIG Life Update

Let's jump right, shall we? WE’RE MOVING. That’s right, we’re ripping up our Michigan roots and headed back to Pennsylvania. Half of my heart is so very excited to share this news while the other half is so very sad. I cannot begin to tell you how long & how hard Andrew and I have prayed & considered this move thinking through what we’ll lose, what we’ll gain, where we want Jack to grow up, and ultimately, where we want to raise our family. We’ve always tried to be flexible ... READ the POST
