where to start

Life is a mixed bag. Sometimes we're getting raises + having babies, while other times we're getting laid off + holding negative pregnancy tests. Naturally, we tend to skim over our failures + imperfections. We want only our successes + highlights to see the light of day.

But as I've gotten older, I've come to realize that all of life is beautiful + purposeful whether it's a "high," "low," or somewhere in between. The sleepless nights, tight budgets + seasons of change result in lessons learned, personal growth + unforgettable memories. When we embrace the icky parts along with the really good parts, life becomes even more meaningful. So here's to rocking our third day hair, laundry piles + less than perfect photos.

And in the end, I think I’ve learned the final lesson from my travels in time; and I’ve even gone one step further than my father did. The truth is I now don’t travel back at all, not even for the day. I just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one day, to enjoy it, as if it was the full final day of

my extraordinary, ordinary life.

Our Birth Story

I'm telling all. Yup! All the details.
Like how it really felt + if Andrew stayed conscious + if I got the drugs.

hey friend!

I’m Cheryl. Come on in! Pull up a chair + I'll pour you some fresh coffee. It's so good to have friends to share a cuppa with, don't you agree? Here's some Peppermint Mocha Creamer, it's my favorite.

A little about me? Well, my thirties are quickly approaching, by far my favorite titles are wife + mama, I live in the Mid-West, I'm proud to say that I can quote about 98% of Friends, I'm always thinking of how I can get creative or, of course, my neverending to-do list, and...well, I have the hardest time saying no to a new coffee mug. Which explains the collection on the shelf over there. But hey, I'm an open book on all things life, wife + mama...

Meet our Home on West Division

Around this time, four years ago we signed on the dotted line (well, about 354958694 lines…but who’s counting) and moved into our first home. We had been living in a small, 540sq ft apartment just 30 minutes south and were due to renew for another year. With the impending commitment and rising monthly cost, we started house hunting per a friend’s advice. We ended up stumbling upon this perfect, little starter home and realized that in our situation, it was better to own than rent. After ... READ the POST

We Sleep Trained an 8 Month Old!

Sleep training is perhaps the biggest hurdle I’ve had to deal with as a Mama. So much so, that I often preferred staying up late to snuggle + soothe him rather than curl up in the fetal position outside his door, listening to him cry. I want to share our nocturnal struggles with you because in my experience, we’re never alone (though it may feel that way) + the most encouraging bits to me have been the moments when other Mama’s were completely transparent with me, crossing the lines into my ... Running Log: Getting Started

Current Photo. Also, made me realize that I need a clearer, updated photo for my "official, beginning photo." In the midst of our craziest summer, I thought it was high time that I implement a regular exercise regimen. And while I’m at it, I may as well train for the half marathon from my “8 Things Before 30” list. Even though things are extra crazy right now, I’m realizing that life is always going to be some variation of crazy busy and there’s no good time to start exercising—kinda like ... READ the POST
